Thank you for keeping me informed about my aunt Edee and your Mom. I know it is probably quite traumatic for her to have to leave her home but she certainly has made the right decision by moving in with Lee and JoAnn. No one could assist her like JoAnn who has proven that over and over again for many years.
Because she will be a long way from the Evans Army Medical Center Pharmacy, JoAnn should ask the pharmacy personnel about how to use the Department of Defense Mail In Pharmacy.
Please keep me on the list for future updates. Give Edee our regards and best wishes.
Thanks again!

Hi all,
Today is the day that Grandmom moves up in the mountains to stay with Lee & JoAnn. She's fallen (nothing serious) a couple of times and not used her Medic Alert, has run into issues in taking all the meds she has to take daily and been confused off and on. Mom does not have Alheimers, but the inevitable ravages of age have crept up on her. After a number of discussions with JoAnn, we agreed that she shouldn't be living alone anymore, especialy with winter shortly in full swing. As JoAnn explained to her, she has four options - (1) a retirement home [Joann has taken her to a number in the Springs], (2) a nursing home [Mom was NOT interested in this option], (3) moving in with JoAnn and Lee and (4) moving in with Sue and I [too far away from her base]. Initially, Mom liked the retirement home. I've had a number of talks with Mom pointing out the advantages of moving in with Lee & JoAnn or us. Over the last few weeks, she has made up her mind that option 3 was the best choice for her. I pointed out that this give her the best possible care with someone who has ONLY her best interests in mind and, incidentally, would be easiest on JoAnn who has been driving the 2 hours to the Springs 2-3 times a week for quite a few years. Mom has made up her mind that living with Lee & JoAnn would be best for her. They've removed their furniture from the spare bedroom and will be putting all of hers in there. Mom's dog (whom she absolutely loves) will make the move and is friendly with the dogs and cat that already live there - the birds will be a new experience.
Mom's house now has an alarm system and nothing will be done with it for at least 4-6 months except to check it once in awhile. Mom will have to leave most of her furniture there (not enough room for all of it) and I'm sure there will be some trips back to it to 'pick up a few things', but the move is organized for today. Mom's old phone will of course not be answered and she will be reachable on Lee's phone (719-689-9059).
I'm sure that Mom would rather stay in the house in which she's lived for over thirty years, but I guess the time for this kind of change comes to many as we get older. It's just wonderful that Mom has someone who really loves her, looking after her.
I hope you and the families all are doing fine
